Where it came from

Tickrix is designed and built by AK, a trader and hardware developer based in the Netherlands. The first unit was not a product. It was a fix for a habit: unlocking a phone dozens of times a day to check one number, and losing the next twenty minutes to everything else on the screen.

A dedicated display solved it, badly at first. Several revisions later, people who saw it on the desk started asking where to get one, which is the only market research that has ever mattered.

How they're made

In small production runs, by hand. Each unit is assembled, flashed with current firmware, connected to a network and watched through a full asset rotation before it is packed. Nothing ships that hasn't been switched on.

Small batches are not a marketing device — they're a constraint. It means the reservation list is real, the wait is real, and we would rather tell you that than take money for stock that doesn't exist.

What we optimise for

Reliability over features. The parts of this device that took longest are the ones you'll never notice: reconnecting cleanly after your router reboots, failing over when a price provider has an outage, and surviving a power cut without needing to be set up again. Cheap connected hardware usually gets exactly these things wrong.

The second priority is not owning anything of yours. No account, no personal data, no dependency on a Tickrix server for prices to appear. The reasoning is here.

Tickrix is registered in the Netherlands under KvK number 42079622. That is not decoration: it means EU consumer law applies to your purchase in full, including the statutory right of withdrawal and the two-year legal conformity guarantee. Details here.
