Comparison
Tickrix vs TickrMeter
TickrMeter is the most visible physical stock ticker on the market and it does something clever: a very cheap, very low-power e-paper unit you can stack. The trade-off is one asset per device.
| Tickrix | TickrMeter | |
|---|---|---|
| Assets per device | Up to 20, rotating · 3 visible at once | One — buy a second unit for a second asset |
| Display | 3.5″ colour IPS | E-paper |
| Refresh | ~10 seconds | Slower — e-paper limits how often it can redraw |
| Low light | Readable, brightness adjustable | Needs ambient light, like paper |
| Battery life | USB-C, or a battery variant | Weeks — e-paper's genuine advantage |
| Exchange choice | You pick, or supply your own API | Their data sources |
| Account | None | Login required to configure |
| Ships from | Netherlands | Denmark — also inside the EU |
The real decision
One asset each, or twenty on one.
TickrMeter's per-unit price is genuinely low, and if you follow exactly one thing it is hard to argue with. The arithmetic changes at three. Three assets means three devices, three power decisions and three things on the desk — and it still won't show you a fourth without another purchase.
Tickrix takes the opposite view: one device, twenty assets, three of them visible simultaneously, and adding a symbol costs nothing.
Where e-paper wins
Weeks on a charge, and no glow.
We won't pretend otherwise. E-paper draws power only when the image changes, which is how TickrMeter gets battery life measured in weeks, and it has the matte, paper-like surface that some people specifically want on a shelf.
The cost is refresh rate and darkness. E-paper cannot redraw every ten seconds without visible ghosting, and it has no light of its own, so at night it is simply not there. If neither matters to you, that is a reasonable trade.
Configuration
No login, on principle.
TickrMeter asks you to create an account to configure your device. Tickrix identifies the unit by the ID on its own screen — no email, no password, nothing about you in a database.
That isn't a swipe at them; accounts make some things easier. It is a deliberate choice on our side, and it's the reason the device keeps working regardless of what happens to us.
